The Golf do Santo da Serra is another popular choice for both locals and tourists. This is perhaps one of the finest golf courses in Europe. It is a 27-hole golf course (72 par) which lies about 500 meters above the village of Machico. This golf course gets even busier during the Madeira Islands Open because it is the selected venue for this annual event. Aside from the impressive landscape within the golf course, visitors can also enjoy the view of the eastern tip of Ponta de São Lourenço. The Porto Santo Golfe is also frequented by a lot of people. This golf course is recognized as the longest one within Madeira. It became open for customers in 2004.
